A Flower in the City

In Tegucigalpa, the LAMB Institute, one of our partner organizations, has been ministering in the inner city neighborhood of Flor del Campo since 2000.  Thought the city’s name means Flower of the Field, there are no flowers!  As with most squatter settlements, the name is one that expresses the hope of the poor who settle there.  Where residents could see only dirt and scrabble with their physical eyes, they yearned for a place of beauty for their children.

There are still few flowers in Flor del Campo, but our ministry has joined other attempts to express hope in Jesus through color and music and struggling gardens. The results can be seen on the faces of the children.  In each one, God's creative love is made beautiful, for His glory and for a hope that cannot be extinguished.
