Becoming a Servant Partners Site

Exploring the Relationship

I. Common Purpose and Mission
This is the most fundamental level of partnership. We need to have a common set values as well as a common target. These values are set forth in Servant Partners, An Introduction. Read carefully and ask us questions. It is important that we share values and goals for local neighborhood mission as well international mission. The practical outworking of these values will depend on the specific situation.

II. Relationships
We believe that we must have relationships based on trust and mutual respect. These relationships may take some time to form, but are the foundation for long term partnership. We want you to be familiar with the ethos of our organization as well as for us to be familiar with you and how your community works.

III. Key Questions to be discussed in the Exploratory Phase
a.) Do we have a clear understanding of one another's purpose, mission, and strategy? And Faith Statements?
b.) Does the potential partner have a track record of fruitful ministry?
c.) Is the potential partner autonomous and capable of standing on it's own? Does it have plans to do that?
d.) Can we envision goals that would satisfy both sides of the partnership?
e.) Do we have a clear sense of what each partner would bring to the partnership?
f.) Do we feel that the timing is right on both sides to form a partnership?
g.) Are there key personnel on both sides prepared to champion the partnership?
h.) Can we define clear mutual expectations about how we will work together?
i.) Can we put adequate systems in place to measure and track progress?
