Restoring hope to the community

Once the birthplace of American democracy, Philadelphia is now the poorest large city in the US. Where Servant Partners staff live and work in North Philly, a vibrant manufacturing system once supported working class neighborhoods where someone could leave their job and walk down the street to get a new one the very same day. Forty years of disinvestment in manufacturing, housing, and even churches and schools, has left many families losing hope and dependent on the government for support. Servant Partners staff hope to break the system of dependence and bring the Kingdom of God more fully to North Philly by partnering with neighbors to develop local leadership, expand access to jobs, and restore a sense of self-determination and community.
