Introduction

Los Angeles County has a population of almost 20 million people; if it were a state, it would be the 4th largest in the United States. There are at least 224 identified languages spoken in LA County alone, with over 140 countries represented! Though it has the 15th largest economy in the world, 22% of all Angelinos live in poverty. Yet in the midst of such diversity of wealth, language, and ethnicity, God is working and moving to bring change. Come and see what God is doing in this city!

Two thrusts of the internship

Education: Learning the biblical foundation for God’s love for all people is essential for a life-long walk with Jesus. As such we will spend much time studying the Bible and participate in seminars and workshops on a variety of topics including social justice and righteousness, being a peacemaker, patience and suffering, dynamics of the city & prayer, Sabbath, and kingdom economics.

Practical Service: We want to be people who both know the Word of God and put it into practice! Interns will spend time volunteering at a local ministry, serving the homeless, families in transition, or youth and kids. Interns will serve in a variety of ministries, but their primary role is to be an encouragement to the year-round staff with their practical service and share the love of Christ, whether through acts of service or through sharing the Gospel, to those whom they serve.

Internship Goals

- To learn the biblical foundation of God’s heart for the poor and for the city
- To grow deeper in your personal walk with Christ through daily disciplines of prayer, fellowship with other believers, and practical service

Come and See Weekend

Spend a weekend learning about God’s heart for the city and the people who dwell within her. We will explore what God says about the Poor in the Bible, take a tour of Los Angeles, and ways we can partner with what God is doing amongst the poor around the world. Come and see what God is doing in the city.
