The Servant Partners team in Oakland focuses on an area that straddles the San Antonio neighborhood (one of the most diverse in the United States), and the Fruitvale (a historically predominantly Latino neighborhood). This area is also home to several thousand immigrants from a particular indigenous town in Guatemala.

Oakland is known for its advocacy for the underserved. In our neighborhood alone, dozens of organizations dedicate themselves to health, economic development, education, housing, legal, and other services. But there is a need for small Jesus-centered communities to gather neighbors and support each other in our faith. Through organizing and meeting regularly with local leaders we have known and mentored for many years, we hope to develop communities where people are invited in to experience Jesus in safe, relevant spaces.

We also host the Guatemala/Oakland hybrid internship, a communal and experiential opportunity to learn in both international and domestic urban settings.
